Background:
EWS-WWF approached Touchpoints to develop a ‘thank you' message to all of their corporate sponsors for their support in helping them achieve great projects in 2008.
In 2008, EWS-WWF's key achievements included:
- Identifying seven new species to science
- A coral reef mapping and management plan, fundamentally important to preserving marine species in the UAE and the coral reefs.
- A major clean up project at Wadi Al Wurayah in Fujeirah, a location with a unique biodiversity in the UAE.
Insight:
Companies love seeing their brandname in the press. Keeping this in mind, we decided to develop a press ad giving recognition to WWF supporters but avoiding a list of logos. We wanted to develop creative that would connect with supporting companies, potential sponsors and the general public.
Solution:
The creative is intrusive as it gives an impression of a wasp resting on the newspaper. To most people, this situation would be a nuisance, but as the headline goes on to say, to WWF "..it's a breakthrough". In a clever, humorous and above all unique way, we communicated the projects that WWF has been involved in, thanked companies for their support, and asked companies to get in touch with WWF in order to sponsor conservation projects and research.
